We're delighted to be delivering critical management support for charities and community groups as part of the ‘Stronger Charities, Stronger Communities’ programme and partnership. This will enable us to provide support to local charity leaders and organisations in the Pen y Cymoedd area at a time when we know they are facing increasing demands and challenges as a direct result of the cost of living crisis.
Through our network of highly experienced and skilled volunteers, we will provide tailored consultancy, telephone advice and mentoring to equip charity leaders with the skills and the confidence they need to navigate the current crisis. We will also work with charity leaders to help them develop their organisations and teams, so they can build their capacity to support people and communities in the longer term.
How does it work?
The funding will support staff to directly work with 21 charities in the fund area to:
> provide intensive 1:1 support to voluntary and community organisations and their leaders through Consultancy, Mentoring and On Call (telephone support). This will enable organisations and leaders to address immediate or strategic management challenges and work towards more sustainable futures in their field of work.
> enable a connected network of support: they will work with others who support the voluntary sector to create a network of connected support and a range of support services to meet organisations’ needs, at different levels and in different ways.
Helping people who are most in need
Smaller charities are often led by ‘service experts’, who are highly skilled in and knowledgeable about the communities they support, and the services they provide. But charities, particularly smaller ones, often lack the resources to invest in organisational change and development and they may not have the funds to ‘buy in’ commercial services in these areas. By providing this essential support to smaller charities, they can in turn better support their beneficiaries - the people who need help the most.
How does this partnership work?
You must be a a formally constituted non-profit whose primary purpose is addressing issues of poverty, disability or social exclusion. Unfortunately, we are unable to support animal charities, schools, environmental charities, historic buildings or other organisations whose primary purpose in not focused on people issues/human welfare.
You must be a formally constituted non-profit with a board of trustees, such as a registered charity or Community Interest Company (CIC).
You need to have sufficient time to devote to a management consultancy project - our volunteers are advisers, rather than taking the work away from you.
Any project undertaken must be agreed by your charity's trustees and senior management team.
